Paul Charles Tyler
Director, LLB (Waikato). Admitted in 2006.
Originally from England, Mr Tyler worked at Lloyds Bank in London and managed courier companies before emigrating to New Zealand in 1989. He studied law at Waikato University, and practised in Whakatane before moving to Timaru eight years ago.
His career has seen him focus on property law, elder law, trusts, relationship property, estates and commercial
Mr Tyler is a member of the local Property Lawyers group and may often be seen out and about socialising or frequenting the garden centres with his partner Vicki McConnochie.
Pauline - Jean Luyten
Director, LLB, BSc, PGDipSports Med (Otago) Admitted in 2005.
Ms Luyten was born in Timaru. She studied law, science and sports medicine at Otago University. As a 17-year-old law student, she was placed with Aoraki Legal’s predecessor firm, Petrie Mayman Clark, for work experience. After qualifying, she worked in Australia, Invercargill, Waikato and as a Legal Adviser with the Medical Council in Wellington, before returning to Timaru.
Initially centered in litigation, her 12 year career has now seen her focus on employment law, elder law, governance and decision-making, relationship property, health and medical law.
Ms Luyten is resolution focused for clients, and enjoys working on matters that are complex, research based or out of the ordinary.
Ms Luyten lives in Timaru with her three children and husband Steve. She is currently completing her Masters at Otago University, is involved with Plunket Timaru and the Tongan Society SC.
Consultant, Notary Public LLB
With 42 years in the law, Mark offers a wealth of knowledge in property law, farms, commercial, company law, wills and trusts.
Born and raised in Temuka, Mark returned to Timaru after working in Dunedin for Aspinall Joel Hall and Marks before moving to Timaru to take a position with the firm now known as RSM Law. In 1976 Mr Clark went into practice on his own in premises in the Royal Arcade, then in 1991, Brian Petrie and Michael Mayman left Petrie Walton and, with Mr Clark, formed the firm Petrie Mayman Clark. In 2013, Petrie Mayman Clark and another local firm, Bradley West, amalgamated to form Aoraki Legal.
Mark is also an honorary solicitor on many local boards and organisations.
Lawyer, BSc (Otago) LLM (UK)
Emma comes to us from Christchurch where she was working in earthquake insurance law. She has a keen interest in science and health which she developed through the BSc she completed at University of Otago in 2011. As an avid sports person, Emma followed her talent to the UK on a sport scholarship where she completed a Master in Laws and played netball in their Superleague competition.
Emma is client focussed and results driven. She enjoys working in the areas of estates, property, health and commercial law.
You will often see Emma taking a run around the Bay or shooting hoops on her lunch break. She is part of the South Canterbury Young Professionals group and maintains her links with Christchurch Sunrise Rotary where she enjoys cooking for Ronald McDonald House and helping with the Battered Women’s Trust.
Registered Legal Executive NZILE, Fellow
Jane advises on buying and selling property, and estates. Jane has many years experience in law, and qualified as a Registered Legal Executive in 1990.
Jane is a Fellow of the NZ Institute of Legal Executives, and Associate member of the NZ Law Society.
Jane’s love of the outdoors has seen her tramp all over the South Island. She enjoys going to the theatre, the movies, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Joy works mainly in conveyancing, buying and selling property. Joy has nearly 40 years experience, with 26 years working for Aoraki Legal predecessors firms, and 12 and a half years with RSM Law.
Joy is a Registered Legal Executive having qualified in 1996, and is a Fellowship Member of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives, and Associate Member of the NZ Law Society.
Joy enjoys helping clients meet their goals with the support of the Aoraki Legal team. She played, coached and refereed basketball for a number of years. Joy is busy with her five grandchildren who are all active in sports including her grandson who has followed in her footsteps by playing for Canterbury at representative level.
Phillip has been with Aoraki Legal since 2012. With more than 42 years in the Trustee industry, including 36 years with Perpetual Trust (now known as Perpetual Guardian), Phillip has built a wealth of trustee knowledge and expertise in all aspects of Trust and estates matters. Phillip is proud to offer his services to all prospective and existing clients. He believes a commitment to professionalism and service to all clients is paramount.
Phillip supports our local community by serving on various boards and committees. He is presently serving on the South Canterbury Hospice Board of Trustees and in 2013, he was made a Life Member of South Canterbury Hospice Incorporated.
Phillip is an outdoor enthusiast with interests in ski-ing, tramping, fishing, building and working on his farmlet. He is also a member of the North Otago 4 Wheel Drive Club. Phillip has been married to his wife Joanne for 36 years, with whom he has had two children and now enjoys spending time with his two granddaughters.
Sandra has 23 years’ experience in legal administration working in all areas of law.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and young grandchildren.
Coral is our Legal Administration and Trust Account assistant.
She has strong experience in banking and office administration.

Dawn has previous experience in Account Administration.
She has been a part of the Aoraki team for nearly 10 years.
Anna joined Aoraki Legal in 2015. She is currently completing her NZ Law Society Legal Executive Diploma.
Outside of work Anna enjoys the outdoors and mountain biking.
