Paul Tyler

Originally from England, Paul worked at Lloyds Bank in London and managed courier companies before emigrating to New Zealand in 1989. He studied law at Waikato University, and practised in Whakatane before moving to Timaru in 2010. Paul is an experienced property lawyer advising on residential and commercial property transactions. Paul is a member of the local Property Lawyers group and may often be seen out and about socialising or frequenting the garden centres with his partner Vicki McConnochie.

Born and raised in Timaru, Pauline studied law, science and sports medicine at University of Otago. She returned to Timaru after working as a legal adviser in Wellington and private practice in Australia, Invercargill and Waikato. Pauline enjoys working with clients toward a practical resolution and on any complex or out of the ordinary cases.

Pauline lives in Timaru with her three children and husband Steve and is completing her Masters at Otago University. She enjoys the outdoors, mountain running and all sports in general.

Pauline is a Trustee of the Community Trust Mid-South Canterbury Trust, a member of the South Canterbury Rugby Board, the South Canterbury Psychosocial Interagency Recovery Committee and Deputy Chair of the Tongan Society South Canterbury. She is honorary solicitor of the Aoraki Migrant Centre.

Emma Walton-Woodings

Emma comes to us from Christchurch where she was working in earthquake insurance law. She has a keen interest in science and health which she developed through the BSc she completed at University of Otago in 2011. As an avid sports person, Emma followed her talent to the UK on a sport scholarship where she completed a Master of Laws and played netball in their Superleague competition.

Emma enjoys being able to work with her clients to reach their desired outcomes. For her, the connections that are built with families as they maneuver through each new step or adventure in their lives is the best part of her role. She enjoys working in the areas of Estates, Property, Trusts, Asset Protection and Commercial transaction.

You will often see Emma taking a run around the Bay on her lunch break. She is a member of Timaru Rotary.


Peter Baker

Peter Baker

Senior Lawyer LLB (Otago, 1993)

Peter is an experienced senior lawyer, having worked for a local Geraldine law firm for 17 years then having his own law firm for over 8 years before joining the team at Aoraki Legal in 2019. He specializes in Conveyancing – residential, business, rural – Wills, Estates, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Commercial Leases, Subdivisions, Refinancing and Mortgages.

Peter is married to Kim with three adult children. In his spare time he enjoys coaching football, walking, reading John Grisham and Alistair MacLean books. He also follows Leeds United in the Premium league.

Alice Goode


Alice graduated from the University of Canterbury in 2018 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in political science and a minor in history in 2019. She was admitted to the bar in 2019 as a solicitor and barrister of the High court of New Zealand.

Alice joined Aoraki Legal in 2020 and works in the areas of Property Law, Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Trusts.

In her spare time Alice enjoys exploring New Zealand with her partner and spending time with family and friends.

Mariejo Sevilla


Mariejo grew up in the Philippines and graduated from the University of San Carlos in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree major in political science and international relations. She worked for International Justice Mission for over 2 years before emigrating to New Zealand in 2017.

Mariejo graduated from the University of Canterbury in December 2020 with a Bachelor of Laws degree. She was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in March 2021.

Mariejo joined Aoraki Legal in May 2021 and works in the areas of Employment Law, Property Law, Wills, Trusts, and Enduring Powers of Attorney.

In her spare time, Mariejo enjoys hiking, and playing badminton with family and friends.

Tasmin Kapp

Trusts & Estates Manager

Originally from South Africa, Tasmin worked as a legal advisor for 6 years, where she attended to trust and estate administration. She studied at Nelson Mandela University where she obtained her law degree and then completed an Advanced Diploma in Trust and Estate Administration at the University of Free State. She moved to New Zealand in 2019 with her daughter.

Tasmin is passionate about what she does and is client focussed.

Tasmin enjoys tramping, sightseeing and reading.

Anna Wilson

Registered Legal Executive

Anna has been part of the Aoraki Legal team for 6 years. Starting off in reception, Anna has completed her diploma in Legal Executive studies graduating in May 2021 and is now a Registered Legal Executive. Anna has worked her way up in the legal field becoming Pauline’s legal assistant and more recently, assisting the estates team in estate administration.

In her spare time Anna keeps busy on her lifestyle block with all her animals and enjoys the outdoors, water sports and fishing Lake Ohau with family and friends.

Barbara Kelliher

Areas of Law: Conveyancing – residential, rural and commercial, Refinancing, Trusts, Leases, Subdivision and Wills

Barbara joined the Aoraki Legal team in 2019 as a legal executive after working for over 11 years at a local law firm. Prior to that Barbara had experience working in real estate agency administration. Barbara is also our office manager and keeps us on track with technology and IT. Barbara enjoys meeting new clients and seeing them through a successful property sale and/or purchase.

In her spare time, Barbara spends time with her primary school aged son who both enjoy gardening and reading. They are involved with the Waimataitai School Brass Band and are members of the Pleasant Point Museum & Railway.

Catherine Wilson

Catherine Wilson

Legal Executive

Catherine began her career in the legal profession as a Law Clerk in 1990. She travelled to London in 1997 spending the next six years exploring some of Europe and working in secretarial/ administrative roles in the investment banking and insurance industries. On her return to New Zealand, she worked as a Legal Secretary for 16 years and is now happy to be part of the team at Aoraki Legal.

Catherine’s work mainly involves Conveyancing although Catherine is also experience with Estates, Trusts and Wills. Assisting clients to achieve their goals provides her with a great deal of satisfaction.

Catherine has a passion for baking which her colleagues seem to appreciate. Catherine loves getting out and about in nature, enjoying running, tramping and cycling. She has participated in the Central South Island Charity Bike Ride, which raises funds for local South Canterbury charities, for the past 10 years. Catherine also enjoys spending time with family and friends.

In her spare time she enjoys helping on a sheep farm, watching all sports and knitting.
